Responsible betting

The maths is not on your side

Every price you see includes a margin. Across a typical market that margin is 4% to 7%, and on parlays and specials it can exceed 20%. This is not a flaw you can outsmart with a system — it is the mechanism by which bookmakers exist. Over enough bets, the expected outcome for almost everyone is a loss.

bet.ing exists to make that arithmetic visible. If a tool here shows you a 0.5% chance of winning, that number is not pessimism; it is the price's own statement about your bet.

Practical limits that actually work

  • Decide your monthly betting budget before the month starts, and treat it as spent.
  • Set deposit and loss limits inside your bookmaker account, not just in your head.
  • Stake a fixed small amount per bet — never more after a loss.
  • Keep a full record of every bet, including the ones you would rather forget.
  • Take scheduled breaks; use self-exclusion tools if you need a hard stop.

Warning signs

  • Betting with money set aside for something else.
  • Increasing stakes to recover losses.
  • Hiding the amount or frequency of your betting from people close to you.
  • Feeling anxious, irritable or low when you cannot bet.
  • Betting to escape stress rather than for entertainment.
  • Borrowing money to bet, or selling things to fund it.

Any one of these is worth taking seriously. They tend to appear gradually, which is exactly why writing down limits in advance is useful.
