Each-Way Calculator
An each-way bet is two equal stakes: one to win, one to place. Enter the stake per part, the win price and the place terms to see exactly what you get back in each of the three possible results.
Odds format
Total return
€116.00
Total staked €20.00
Net result
€96.00
Win part
€90.00
At 9.00
Place part
€26.00
Place price 2.60
The formulas
total stake = stake per part × 2
place odds = 1 + (win odds − 1) ÷ place fraction
wins → return = (stake × win odds) + (stake × place odds)
places → return = stake × place odds
unplaced → return = 0
net = total return − total stake
Worked example
€10 each-way at 9.00 with 1/5 place terms costs €20. Place odds are 1 + (8 ÷ 5) = 2.60. If it wins you collect €90 + €26 = €116 for €96 profit. If it only places you collect €26 for a €6 profit. If it finishes unplaced you lose the €20.

Common mistakes
- Thinking €10 each-way costs €10. It is two bets, so it costs €20.
- Backing short prices each-way. At 1/5 terms, anything below 6.00 loses money on the place part alone if it fails to win.
- Assuming the place terms. The fraction and number of places vary by event and bookmaker; check before staking.
